DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Economic Development Council met recently to discuss spring plans.

Repairs to the Dana G. Holt Gazebo were discussed and will be addressed.

The gazebo at the Village Green is available for public use, providing it is scheduled at the Town Office. Local bands and vocalists may schedule public concerts at the gazebo by calling 562-8151 and locking in a date.

Volunteers are needed to water the plants that hang from the utility poles along Main and Weld streets during the summer.

A pump system is available for the actual watering of the plants, but volunteers are needed for Saturdays and Sundays so that the survival of the plants can be insured. The plants must be watered even in rainy periods because the heavy foliage keeps the rain from penetrating to the soil.

It was noted that the outdoor market will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, and application forms are available at Log Cabin Craftworks.

For more information on any of these subjects or to volunteer, call the Town Office or Norine at 562-8816.

The next meeting of the council will be at 8 a.m. Thursday, May 15, at the Town Office. Guests are welcome.
