SHELBURNE, N.H. – A Community Forest Workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Shelburne Town Hall.

The workshop will include field visits to Gorham’s Paul T. Doherty Memorial Forest and the Randolph Community Forest. The workshop is being co-sponsored by the Shelburne Conservation Commission, the Mahoosuc Land Trust, the Mahoosuc Initiative (www.mahoosucinfo.org) and the Community Forest Collaborative.

The workshop will provide an opportunity for people to learn about the community and economic values of community forests, to meet and learn from people who have established community forests in their towns, to visit two communities and to learn about the potential role that forests can play in the Mahoosuc Initiative.

The workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Shelburne Town Hall with a series of participatory exercises facilitated by Shanna Ratnor from Yellowwood Associates (www.yellowwood.org). Box lunches will be provided as the workshop moves outdoors for site visits.
