MADISON – Jay scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to capture a 6-4 softball victory over Madison.
In the ninth inning, Betsy Gemelli singled home Tasha Hebert, who reached base on a double. Beth Moore then singled home Gemelli to record an insurance run.
Zena Armandi contributed four hits, which included an RBI triple. Alexii Smith earned the win, going all nine innings, and collected 14 strikeouts.
McKayla Stoutzmyer hit a double for the Bulldogs.
EL 9, Mt Ararat 5
TOPSHAM -Emily Grund smacked two doubles, and collected two RBIs, to lead Edward Little to a 9-5 victory over Mt. Ararat in KVAC softball.
Michelle Peaco and Kayla Cummings each hit doubles, while Alice Read had two singles for the Eddies (3-6).
Mt. Ararat (4-5) was paced by Sammi Owen with a double, and pitcher Michelle Prevost who struck out six in the loss.
Lewiston 7, Brunswick 2
BRUNSWICK – Sam Morency led Lewiston with three hits and three RBIs as Lewiston posted a 7-2 victory over Brunswick.
Morency hit an RBI single in the first inning to kick off things for the Blue Devils (7-2), and later smacked a two-run double in the fifth. Pitcher Danielle Willey earned the win.
For the Dragons (2-6), Heather Clark had a double and scored on a fielder’s choice.
Fryeburg 13, Wells 0
WELLS – Pitcher Hannah Hill had a perfect control of the mound, fanning 15 batters en route to a 13-0 Fryeburg triumph over Wells in a WMC softball matchup.
Hill helped her own cause with four hits and three RBIs, while Brylie Walker had two hits, which included a double, and three RBIs. Freshman Kelsey Sheehan had a strong performance with a double and a run scored. Cerise Humphrey and Ellen Head each contributed three hits apiece.
Gray-NG 3, Poland 0
GRAY – Laura Getchell tossed a three-hitter and struck out 15 to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 3-0 victory over Poland.
Taylor Damon gave the Patriots (5-2) the early lead when she singled, reached second on an error, stole third and scored on a delay steal. Alicia Gorman had three hits, including and RBI single in the sixth.
Krystal Malpass hit a triple and Courtney Gray had a doible for Poland.
Oxford Hills 6, Cony 2
SOUTH PARIS – Junior pitcher Kristy Jurczak fanned 12 batters as Oxford Hills coasted to a 6-2 triumph over Cony in KVAC softball action Monday.
Junior second baseman Megan Gauger recorded a pair of hits for the Vikings (8-1), while Jurczak also notched a hit and an RBI to help her cause.
Chelsea Soule collected three hits for the Rams (6-3) in the loss.
Mountain Valley 17, Boothbay 4
RUMFORD – Mountain Valley erupted for 17 runs on 11 hits to win its first game of the season, 17-4 over winless Boothbay.
Vanessa Cayer led the offense with two hits. Savanna Ford ripped a triple and Tanya Martin had a double for the Falcons (1-6). Brandi Fettridge hit a double for Boothbay (0-6).
Morse 6, Leavitt 2
BATH – Aljardra Rodriguez smacked a two-run triple to pace Morse to a 6-2 victory over Leavitt.
Kate Thibodeau hit an RBI triple, while winning pitcher Megan Hennessey had two singles for the Shipbuilders (2-7).
For the Hornets (4-5), Paige Dyer had two hits.
Monmouth 15, Livermore Falls 1
MONMOUTH – Kelsie Hilton blasted out a three-run home run in the sixth inning as Monmouth rolled past Livermore Falls with a 15-1 triumph Monday afternoon.
Hilton also hit an RBI double, while twin Cristi contributed with a two-run double for the Mustangs (6-1). Alyssa Morin had two doubles and an RBI, while Jenn Lola finished the game with three singles.
The lone run for Livermore Falls (3-5) was scored by Tori Fournier on a fielder’s choice, after reaching base on an error and stealing second.
