CARTHAGE – New England Celtic Arts will host Scotland’s North Sea Gas at The Skye Theater at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, as part of the band’s U.S. tour. A preshow jam session will be held at 6:30. Audience members are invited to bring their musical instruments so they can participate.

North Sea Gas, which has been performing for 27 years, uses a variety of instruments, including guitar, mandolin, bodhran, banjo, whistle, mandola, bouzouki and mouth organ to complement its fine vocals, harmonies and keen sense of humor.

The group has performed at numerous venues from compact hotel lounges to national theaters, as well as at private functions.

Over the years, its blend of Scottish and Irish music has appealed to audiences in Great Britain, Europe, Scandinavia, Australia, Canada and the United States.

In 2006, North Sea Gas’ recordings were added to the Folklore Library, School of Scottish Studies, at the University of Edinburgh.

Tickets are $10 at the door. Call New England Celtic Arts at 562-4445 for reservations. Skye Theater is at 2 Highland Drive. For more information, visit www.necelticarts.com.
