LEWISTON – Carmen E. Bissonnette, 81, of Evergreen Street and formerly of Walnut Street in Lewiston, passed away early Tuesday, May 13, at d’Youville Pavilion with her niece at her side.
She was born in Lewiston, Dec. 31, 1926, a daughter of Napolean and Alice (Gauthier) Bissonnette. She was educated in Lewiston schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community.
She worked for 40 years in local textile mills including the Continental, Hill Mill and Bates Manufacturing until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and among her favorite enjoyments were cooking, baking, crocheting and watching her soap operas.
She was a devoted and loving daughter as she cared for her parents for many years in their elder years. She was a wonderful sister to her brother, Alfred. Her family will remember her for her honesty, loyalty and humor. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all of her family.
She leaves a brother, Alfred J. Bissonnette of Lewiston; a niece, Suzanne Csoros and husband, Peter, of Minot; three nephews, Arthur L. Bissonnette and wife, Donna, of Bucksport, Richard R. Bissonnette and wife, Deborah, of Auburn and Donald N. Bissonnette and wife, Bonnie, of Waterville; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by a niece, Connie Bissonnette in 1959; and a brother, Arthur Bissonnette, also in 1959.
