PARIS – A 49-year-old Rumford man was sentenced Monday to serve 30 days of a three-year sentence for selling cocaine in March 2006.

Dana Lee Richardson of 25 Maine Ave. was indicted in October 2006 on two charges of aggravated drug trafficking and two charges of conspiracy to commit drug trafficking.

He entered a plea in Oxford County Superior Court, not admitting guilt but acknowledging there was enough evidence that a judge or jury could likely find him guilty.

Richardson’s indictment was amended to remove language saying Richardson was convicted of aggravated drug trafficking in 1997, reducing the cocaine charges from Class A to Class B felonies.

Justice Roland Cole sentenced him to serve 30 days of a three-year prison sentence and nine months of probation. Richardson must also pay $4,000 in fines and refrain from using drugs or alcohol.

Assistant Attorney General William Savage said police used a cooperating individual wearing a recording device and using marked money to observe Richardson make two one-gram cocaine sales in March 2006.

Richardson was one of 10 people arrested after federal, state, county and local law enforcement agencies conducted an eight-month investigation into cocaine sales in Rumford.
