FARMINGTON – County commissioners will give an update Thursday night on tax-break negotiations with a Canadian company that is proposing a commercial wind farm in northern Franklin County.
TransCanada asked the commissioners to work with it to establish a tax-increment financing agreement that could produce revenue for the county to increase economic development efforts in unorganized territories.
The company could use the tax break to invest in the Kibby Wind Project.
TransCanada has proposed building a 44-turbine wind farm on mountain ridges in Kibby and Skinner townships.
The cost of the project is estimated at $270 million.
The public information meeting on the proposed TIF will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at the Franklin County Superior Courthouse, in the upstairs courtroom.
