JAY – Linda Jean Latham, 61, of Jay, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 13, in Jay, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born May 23, 1946, in Farmington, a daughter of Dennis B. and Lillian G. (Knowles) Wright. She recieved her education in Jay schools and was a 1964 graduate of Jay High School.
On Nov. 27, 1965, she married her sweetheart, Lloyd W. Latham in North Jay.
A devoted wife and mother, she also enjoyed working outside of the home and for many years was a floor lady at Norwock Shoe in North Jay. She later was employed in the cafeteria and was in charge of the vending machines at Norwock. She also was employed by Friendly Home Toy Parties. She was well-known, particularly by snowmobilers, for running the Snack Shack on Morse Hill. At the time of her passing, she was employed in the cafeteria of Verso Papers, Jay.
She enjoyed photography and giving away her artistic work to family and friends. She came from a musical family and devoted her volunteer efforts to helping at the Country Folk Music Theater in East Dixfield, as well as volunteering her time at Channel 7. She and her husband are well-known for their love of music and for impressing folks with their polka dancing. A very selfless person, she gave generously of her time and talents and always put others needs before her own. She is remembered for her cooking and baking, dancing, photography and her willingness to always help a person or champion a cause.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Lloyd, of Jay; one son, Danny Latham and his wife, Melodi, of North Jay and their daughter, Rachelle Peck and her daughter, Lila Peck, all of Jay; one daughter, Becky Haskell and her husband, Chuck Haskell and their two children, Jessica and CJ, all of North Jay; one stepdaughter, Tammy Tryon and her husband, Phillip Tryon and their three children, Lacy Tryon, Dyllon Barker and Shealee Jackson and her husband, Andrew and their daughter, Haley Jackson, all of North Jay; her mother, Lillian Wright of North Jay; siblings, Dennis “Chet” Wright and his wife, Donna, of North Jay, Debbie Farrington and her fiance, Richard “Dick” Packard, of Bean’s Corner and Larry Wright of North Jay; several aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Dennis Wright in 1989; her sister, Barbie Wright in 1961; her children, Scott Latham in 1966; Rhonda Latham in 1967; and granddaughter, Nicole Haskell in 1987.
