NEW PORTLAND – Carolanne Lovejoy, 49, died May 14, at her home in New Portland.

She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., Jan. 10, 1959. She was educated in the schools of Philadelphia and graduated from Washington High School in 1977.

She worked as a waitress, cashier and receptionist for several years and moved to Maine after her graduation with her family. She and her family owned and operated the Lemon Stream General Store in West New Portland for several years.

It was there she met her love of her life, Jake Lovejoy, and married him in Aug. 20, 1983, in Anson, by the Justice of Peace, Mr. Viles. They made their home in West New Portland, moving to Calais for a few years. She later worked for Kingfield Wood Products, Tranten’s Grocery Store in Kingfield, Shop & Save in Calais, Graves Grocery Store and Bob’s Discount in Farmington. In 1984, she gave birth to her one and only beautiful daughter, Edith May Lovejoy.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 24 years, Jake Lovejoy, and a beautiful daughter, Edith May Lovejoy, both of West New Portland; two stepchildren, Renee and husband, Mike Blanchet, and William and wife, Melissa Lovejoy, and four stepgrandchildren, Drew, Rileigh, Harley and Kain, all of Farmington.
