FARMINGTON – Doris Smith Ranger, 93, of Farmington, passed away in her sleep on May 20, at Edgewood Manor.

She was born in Phillips, on Jan. 14, 1915, a daughter of Frederick and Shirley (Savage) Smith. She attended Phillips schools.

On June 22, 1935, she married Arthur Ranger and moved to Fairbanks, where she made her home for many years. She worked at the Fairbanks School serving hot lunch for nine years. She was a devoted mother and housewife who enjoyed her home and her family very much. Her hobbies included gardening, flowers and scrapbooking.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Ranger Camber and her partner, Sal Moscato, of Brunswick; a son, Eugene Ranger and his wife, Meredith, of Farmington; she also took great pride in her three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Kathryn Jeffcoats and her husband, Tim, and their children, Meghan and David Buckley and Victoria and Andreaska Jeffcoats of Leeds; Mark Ranger and his wife, Jennifer, and their children, Malia and Natalie of Farmington; Jared Ranger and his wife, Jaime, and their children, Colby and Chase of Farmington; one brother, Curtis Smith of Strong; one sister, Phyllis Smith Bolduc of Phillips; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur; an infant daughter, Beverly Ranger; a sister, Dorothy Smith McMullin; and brothers, Frank, Everett, Paul and Fred Smith, all of Phillips and Phillip Smith of Farmington.
