LEWISTON – The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society invites the community to its second annual Spring “Litter” Bug Drive on Saturday, May 24.

The humane society goes through thousands of pounds of cat litter each year, most of which is donated.

To ensure that staff is able to care for and keep their feline friends comfortable, the shelter invites all “Litter” Bugs to donate clay cat litter to help replenish the diminishing supply. All litter donors will be entered in a drawing for a Petco gift card.

Every year the society provides a haven for more than 5,000 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin region. The primary support comes from fundraising events and donations of residents.

The society is located at 55 Strawberry Ave.

For more information on the kitten shower, items needed for the young animals, the cats and kittens available for adoption or how to become a “foster parent” and help care for a litter of kittens in the home, call the shelter at 783-2311 or visit www.gahumane.org.
