AUBURN – John R. Roux, 70, of Central Avenue, Lewiston, passed away Wednesday, May 14, at the Hospice House, after a long illness.

He was born on March 8, 1938, the son of John and Emilia (Morin) Roux. He was a graduate of Edward Little, Class of 1956. He proudly served as a reservist in the Army from 1959 to 1965.

He was an avid fisherman and belonged to the National Bass Fishing Club. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.

He worked for Shapiro Bros. Shoe Co. from 1956 to 1984, all but two years as the packing room foreman. He also worked for Hannaford Bros. for 30 years, all but three years as deli manager.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Fleurette (Flo) of Lewiston; son, Michael Roux and his wife, Lisa, of Bowdoinham; two grandsons, David and Jonathan; daughter, Denise Roux of Lewiston; and sisters, Irene Obie and Patricia Roux of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Gerald Roux.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital Infusion Center, the caring staff at the Hospice House and special thanks to Dr. Richard Kappelmann.
