Bank donates $5,000 for veterans monument

NORWAY – Norway Savings Bank has announced that it has donated $5,000 for the construction of a Paris Veterans Monument in Moore Park, Paris.

The monument will be constructed as a tribute to local Paris men and women who have served the country during times of war and peace since 1898.

The monument committee expects to have more than 1,500 names of veterans who have served from the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Western Asian Wars.

A complete record of names, periods of service and branches of military are kept and can be reviewed at the Foster-Carroll American Legion Post and the Paris Town Office.

“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to be a sponsor the Paris Veterans Monument,” said Bob Harmon, president and CEO of Norway Savings Bank. “It is very important to honor those who have sacrificed their lives to serve and protect our country and we are proud to be a part of this project.”
