TOGUS – More than 2,000 American flags will provide the backdrop as the Department of Maine honors veterans at 2 p.m. Monday, May 26, at the VA West Cemetery flag pole. All are welcome.
The Healing Field Committee, chaired by Past Department Commander Herman Wright, and Legion family members decorated the West Cemetery at Togus with the flags. They also erected 500 flags in front of Building 200.
It is the conclusion of the Healing Field project, which was initiated by the Sons of the American Legion.
The flags will be removed after the ceremony, and those wishing may stay to assist with the removal.
Those wishing to pick up their own personal flags should see SAL Detachment Commander Don Allisot after the ceremony.
