LIVERMORE FALLS – The Livermore Falls-Jay Senior Citizens met at Murray Hall on May 19 with 38 members present. It was the last meeting before the summer break. Meetings will resume on the second Monday in September.

Chairwoman Shirley Couture opened the meeting with a prayer, salute to the flag and a moment of silence for departed members and for the men and women in the armed forces.

Reported on the sick list were Dora Slovak and Shirley Toncer, who is now at Sandy River Nursing Home. Lucile Frechette was welcomed back.

Members were reminded about the Monday, June 2, meeting sponsored by SeniorsPlus. A thank-you card was read from Gloria Dallasandro. It was voted to donate $100 to the Friends Together Social club.

Shirley Couture reminded the members not to forget Memorial Day and to turn out for the parade honoring veterans.

Lunch of finger rolls, salads, finger foods, cake and ice cream was served. Members celebrating birthdays were honored: May, Gabriel Teixiera, Rejeanne Paradis and Pauline Fournier; June, Irene Hebert, Alice DeMoras, Pauline Coombs, Lorette Chabot, Joan Lauzier, John DeMoras, Margaret Slovak and Jean Luciano; July, Lucile Frechette, Sybil Bailey, Ernest Bickford, Maggie Dufour, Clemance Moreau, Aurelien Couture, Gene Roy and Theresa Bilodeau; August, Pat Couture, Jeanne Oakes, Ellie Mitchell, Cindy Hebert and Joe Slovak.

Couture said Lucile Frechette could not continue as secretary. The 50-50 was won by Diane Getz and Marilyn Desoto and a dozen eggs donated by Carmen Moreau was won by Lorette Chabot.

Couture wished everyone a good summer, after which the meeting was adjourned and cards and games were played.
