BOSTON (AP) – Boston’s Cardinal Sean O’Malley is taking another step into cyberspace.
On Sunday, the cardinal will begin sending out weekly e-mails to Roman Catholics throughout the Boston Archdiocese.
The e-mails will include statements from O’Malley, content from his blog, and news releases from the archdiocese.
The e-mails also will feature links to current stories from The Pilot, the archdiocese’s newspaper.
The initial e-mail will be sent to about 10,000 e-mail addresses provided to agencies and affiliates of the archdiocese. O’Malley hopes the list will eventually include every Catholic household in the archdiocese that has an e-mail account.
O’Malley’s other initiatives to modernize the archdiocese’s communications including his blog, launched in 2006, the same year he began offering downloadable Christmas video messages.
