LEWISTON – Jeannette T. Carroll, 74, of Dingley Street, Lewiston, passed away early Friday morning, May 23, at Central Maine Medical Center with her family at her side following a long illness.
She was born in Lewiston on Jan. 21, 1934, a daughter of Alfred and Blanche (Cote) Collet. She was educated in Auburn schools, graduated from Edward Little High School, and remained a lifelong resident of this community.
In 1955, she married Ronald A. Carroll who died March 28, 1998.
Following high school, Jeannette entered the nursing program and ultimately attained her nursing degree from Holy Ghost Hospital in Massachusetts. She went on to enjoy a career as a nurse and caregiver that spanned 30 years, as she spent all of those years working in nursing homes in Lewiston and Farmington until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Philip’s Church.
Jeannette was a true “people person.” She loved people, and loved sharing that enthusiasm that came naturally to her with her family, her many friends and everyone she met. Her favorite quote was “Look for me in the clouds and you’ll hear my laughter from above.”
She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
She leaves two daughters, Diana Carroll Smith of Lewiston, and Patricia Carroll Murray and husband, Brad, of Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; two sons, Michael Carroll and wife, Nancy, of Lewiston, and Thomas Carroll and wife, Kristin, of McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey; eight grandchildren, Justin and Lucas Carroll, Allison and Kasey Smith, Hollyann and Ryan Carroll, and Nicholas and Megan Murray; a sister, Cecile Jennings and husband, Martin, of Lewiston; a brother, Louis Collet and wife, Rita, of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Mark Carroll; a sister, Sr. Rolande Collet; and a brother, Alfred Collet Jr.
