I believe the number one priority for the next president should be alternate energy. It should have started more than 30 years ago. One president tried but was not re-elected; big oil made sure of that.

In the past 30 years, how much effort has this country put into solar, wind, nuclear, tidal or other energy sources? By now, this country should be in the forefront of alternate energy technology. Little is said about that.

Why is that?

I believe most politicians are puppets for the big oil corporations, so why should they support alternate energy? The stimulus check the government sent me will pay only a small part of my oil bill.

Everyone who buys a car, such as the Toyota Prius, that gets more than 50 miles per gallon should get a government rebate of at least $5,000. That would wake up the other car manufacturers to produce a car that also gets more than 50 miles per gallon.

How about giving a rebate to any person who wants to change there oil heating system to a pellet stove or boiler? People don’t have to use oil to heat a home. If the government would help the public convert to an alternate energy source, that would help more than the small stimulus checks.
