JAY – Jonathan LaBonte, executive director of the Androscoggin Land Trust, will speak to the Jay-Livermore-Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting June 6 at LaFleurs’ Restaurant in Jay. The meeting will begin at 7 a.m. The public is invited.
LaBonte will discuss ALT’s desire to support economic development by promoting nature-based tourism and the benefits of locating a business in an area with so many natural resources, recreational initiatives along the Androscoggin River (including mapping out a “water” trail from the source to the sea), and efforts to build riverside trails from village centers to other areas.
A native of New Auburn, LaBonte is a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono with a degree in chemical engineering, and has conducted graduate research in urban and regional planning and policy. He most recently served as assistant government relations manager for the Maine Turnpike Authority. He also serves on several boards and committees, including the Auburn Comprehensive Plan Update Committee, Maine Trail Advisory Committee, and Maine Land Trust Network Steering Committee.
Those interested in attending should call the chamber office at 897-6755 no later than June 4.
