FARMINGTON – Yolande I. Gervais, 93, of Jay and Fort Myers, Fla., died early Saturday evening, May 24, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, with her loving family at her side.
She was born on Sept. 4, 1914, in Livermore Falls, the daughter of, Joseph and Anna (Letourneau) Dumais. She graduated from St. Rose of Lima parochial school and attended Livermore Falls High School.
On May 30, 1936, she married Raoul Gervais at St. Rose of Lima in Jay. They shared 54 years of marriage until his death in 1990.
She worked as a loving homemaker to her husband and family. She was able to spend 30 years of retirement traveling to Fort Myers, Fla., every winter. There she continued her enjoyment of playing various card games, including bridge. She also loved to play shuffleboard, which she and her husband were very successful at.
She attended St. Rose of Lima, was a longtime member of the choir and was a life member of the Daughters of Isabella. In Florida, she attended St. Therese Catholic Church.
She is survived by a son, Richard and his wife, Helen, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a daughter, Claire Deshaies and her husband, Gerald, of Fort Myers, Fla.; five grandchildren, Lisa Foley and her husband, Patrick, of Peterborough, N.H., Stephen Gervais and his wife, Michelle, of Jay, Debra Grey and her husband, Bill, of Littleton, N.H., Peggy Wills and her husband, Rick, of Livermore and Barbara Burnell and her husband, Gene, of Jay; 10 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Megan, Tyler, Katelyn, Courtney, Kaylee, Kelsey, Corey, Ashley and Bethany; and one great-great granddaughter, Jordyn.
She was predeceased by a brother, Ubaldo; three sisters, Noella, Fabiola and Germaine.
