Market Square notes Nursing Home Week

PARIS – Residents and staff at Market Square Health Care Center, South Paris, took a virtual trip on the “Love Boat” last week to celebrate Nursing Home Week May 11 to 17. The theme was “Love is Ageless,” and staff organized tropical cruise themed events to commemorate the week.

Activities included a bon voyage party, a talent show, shuffleboard, a luau, a captain’s breakfast and a gentleman’s group. Staff had free massages, joined in on the captain’s breakfast and held their annual skills fair in the afternoons several of the days.

This is the first time the skills fair has coordinated with Nursing Home Week. It carried through the tropical cruise theme, with each of the education booths a different tropical island port of call.

Staff refreshed their knowledge of fire safety, hand washing, infection control, dementia sensitivity and other aspects of care at 10 stations to earn their in service credits.

National Nursing Home Week is an annual observance sponsored by the American Health Care Association.
