FARMINGTON – The second step in SAD 9’s budget approval process takes place Wednesday. The referendum validation vote gives voters the chance to approve or reject proposed school spending.

Voters face a less than 1 percent budget increase to just under $24 million. Local assessments have increased by 4.1 percent and the state allocation is expected to decrease by about 1 percent.

The schedule for each town’s voting hours are as follows:

Chesterville: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., town office

Farmington: 3 to 7 p.m., community center

Industry: 4 to 8 p.m., town hall

New Sharon: 1 to 7 p.m., town office

New Vineyard: 4 to 8 p.m., Smith Hall

Temple: 3 to 7 p.m., town hall

Vienna: Noon to 4 p.m., fire station

Weld: 6 a.m. to noon, multipurpose room at town office

Wilton: 3 to 7 p.m., town office.
