Liberty Rebekah Lodge notice
AUBURN – Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 2, in the activities room at the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Home, 85 Caron Lane.
As the members gather, snacks will be available, provided by Cynthia Maxwell and Esther Tucker. A business meeting will follow and there will be a program for Flag Day. Noble Grand Diane Treacy has asked all to wear the colors of red, white and blue, if possible.
First nominations of officers will be held. At the last meeting Eleanor Helwig was appointed by the noble grand to be conductor to complete the term. She was installed by Esther Tucker, acting deputy president, and Mercena Abrams, acting deputy marshal.
All members are invited to attend the district meeting on Saturday, May 31, in Lisbon. and to bring something for the exchange table. Nina Rebekah Lodge will serve a smothered beef dinner at noon at the Odd Fellows Hall. The meeting will follow with Debbie Smith, district deputy president, presiding, assisted by Martha Shorette, deputy marshal.
Cancer series
LEWISTON – The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing will present “Supplements – Help or Hype?,” the third installment of a cancer and nutrition workshop series, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 29.

Sale in Poland
POLAND – The Poland Historical Society will hold a plant, pie and yard sale at the Poland Town Office parking lot from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31. There will be flowers and vegetables, pies and furniture and household items for sale. Those who have items to donate, call Mary Chipman at 998-4391.
Sabattus Seniors
SABATTUS – Sabattus Senior Citizens will have their monthly meal at the Green Ladle, East Avenue, on Thursday, June 5, followed by a meeting and bingo at Maxwell Hall. Those who haven’t signed up for the meal should call Doris at 784-7950. There will be no meal or meeting in July.
Trips will include Foxwoods on July 8, Aug. 12 and Sept. 9; Hollywood Slots on July 15; and Lobster Festival at Indian Head Resort on Sept. 7. For more information, call Jean at 784-5264.
Golden Age Club
LEWISTON – Members of the Golden Age Club met May 13 at the Chick-A-Dee in Lewiston for an anniversary dinner. The group will meet at noon Tuesday, June 10, at the Sacred Heart Church Hall fo a dinner of chicken pot pie, rolls, dessert, coffee and tea.
Contact Paula at 576-4082 for reservations and arrangements for paying the $4 for the dinner no later than Friday, June 6. It is the last meeting for the summer. The club will resume meeting in September. They need volunteers to work the kitchen starting in September. Contact Paula if willing to help a few months of the year.
Foster care night
AUBURN – The Department of Health and Human Services in Lewiston honored district foster parents at the Martindale Country Club recently.
May is Foster Care Awareness Month, so the agency celebrated foster care and acknowledged foster parents who give to children in Maine. The department hosted a night of food, entertainment and door prizes.
It was the 29th appreciation dinner. Caseworkers from DHHS, those in the community who work with foster children and in-home workers attended.
