Jamie Walker is the guest artist for Gallery 302 from June 1-28. Walker works in both acrylic and encaustic to achieve the atmospheric effect of her abstract paintings. Many people know Walker for her work as an acupuncturist in Naples, where she has been practicing since 1994. Walker has always been involved in art one way or another; she took art classes in college and has explored different media since then. She also spent a number of years in the 80s showing her batiks at various craft fairs in New York. The paintings showing in the gallery have been inspired by her study last year with acrylic painter Lauren Taylor, and encaustic painter Bill Harsh, both of Carmel, Calif. The gallery reception for Walker’s show is June 20 from 5-7 p.m. The pubic is invited to attend.
