AUBURN – Albertine “Betty” L. LaPointe, 91, a resident of 440 Minot Ave., Auburn, died early Wednesday, May 28, at Clover Manor Health Care, after a short illness.

Betty was born in Jay, Dec. 11, 1916, the daughter of Joseph and Marianna (Litalien) Gourde. She grew up in Chisolm and attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic school. She married Arthur “Pete” T. LaPointe on Feb. 8, 1937.

She was employed at Pepperell Mills for 33 years. After her husband’s death in 1973, she became an employee at St. Mary’s Hospital and worked there for 10 years. She enjoyed baking, sewing, making quilts, afghans, embroidery, crocheting and was an avid crafter in her later years.

She is survived by one son, Robert, and his wife, Helen LaPointe, of Monmouth; three daughters, Sylvia and husband, Floyd Carter, of Collierville, Tenn., Claudette and husband, Larry Dahlgren, of Duluth, Minn., and Barbara and husband, James Griffin, of Hampton, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; plus the many spouses from each of the different generations; two brothers, Roland Gourde of Canton and Leo and Pauline Gourde, of Rumford; as well as a very dear friend, Amos Campbell.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Cecile Gourde Hennessy and Theresa Gourde Brady; and two brothers, Albert and Napoleon Gourde.

The family would like to extend sincere appreciation for the care given Betty on Side 4 of Clover Manor during her short illness.
