RUMFORD – A Mass of Christian Burial for Cecil Mahoney was celebrated Thursday at St. Athanasius-St. John Church, Rumford, with the Rev. Angelo LeVasseur as celebrant. Altar assistant was George Gionet and organist was Mark Belanger. Music selections included “Danny Boy,” “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Be Not Afraid.” Committal services were conducted by the Rev. LeVasseur and with full military honors provided by the Maine Military Funeral Honors Program from Augusta. Bagpiper, Denise Hurd provided several musical selections at the cemetery. Interment was at the Demerritt Cemetery, West Peru. Pallbearers were Donald Jasud, Michael Jasud, James Dorr, Michael Rankoff, John Hall, Norman Trenoweth and Michael Franklin. A reception followed the services at the Robert Shand Post 1641, VFW, Rumford. Arrangements were under the direction of the Meader and Son Funeral Home.
