AUBURN – Dennis “Big Den” St. Hilaire, 58, of Big Den’s Way in Lewiston, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 28, surrounded by his family at the Hospice House, after a heroic 4 year battle with brain cancer.

‘Big Den’ was born in Lewiston, Feb. 3, 1950, the son of William and Dorothy Daniels St. Hilaire. He was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School.

On Sept. 5, 1970, he married the love of his life, Helene Grenier. He served his country in Vietnam having served in the U.S. Army. He worked his entire life for his family’s roofing business, Industrial Roofing Co.

He was the ultimate loving family man and father, always putting the interests and needs of his wife, children, and grandchildren before his own, with boundless patience, dedication, and love.

His life long dream to secure his children’s future came true in 2004, when all three of his children took residence and built their homes on the family land located at Big Den’s Way. He enjoyed life in all respects and aspects, taking joy and pleasure in the fun activities that is life, including parties, motorcycles, golf, softball, playing cards, being with friends and family anywhere at any time, and spring breaks.

He is survived by his wife, Helene, of Lewiston; his two sons, Dennis Jr. St. Hilaire and his wife. Kelley, and Earl St. Hilaire and his wife, Angie, of Lewiston; his daughter, Lu Ann Frenette and her husband, Marc, of Lewiston; his grandchildren, Drew, Cooper and Daxten, Camree, Bailee, Toree, Isabelle, Lucy and Miles; his other kids, the siblings of his wife, who they raised and loved as their own, Jeanne Gibson and Michael of Clarksville, Tenn., Marc Grenier and his wife, Terry, of Monmouth, Rock Grenier and his wife, Linette, of Minot, Louis Grenier and his wife, Lynn, of Lewiston, Bernie Slivinski of Venus, Texas, and Anne Grenier of Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Joan Morin and her husband, Ray, of Lewiston, Joline Pelletier and her husband, Leo, of Auburn and Judy Lavigne and her husband, Gerry, of Falmouth; and one brother, Richard St. Hilaire and his wife, Shirlaine, of Florida.

His family expresses its warm thanks and gratitude to everyone who assisted him in his fight against cancer. You are too numerous to name, but you are appreciated.
