NEWRY – The Maine Innkeepers Association will swing into spring with its fourth annual “Tees and Textbooks,” a gala scholarship dinner and hospitality golf classic to be held at Sunday River Resort on Monday and Tuesday, June 16 and 17, announced Executive Director Greg Dugal.
The two-day event, which combines the 14th annual hospitality golf classic and the association’s 24th annual education scholarship awards, raises funds to provide support and inspiration to local students pursuing a career in hospitality.
Festivities will tee off at the Grand Summit Resort at 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 16, with a social hour. A dinner will follow with scholarship recipients being honored. The evening will wrap up with the entertainment of comedian George Hamm.
The following day, the 14th annual Hospitality Golf Classic will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun scramble at the Sunday River Golf Course.
Door prizes and golf awards for longest drive, closest to the pin and putting will be presented at a barbecue lunch at the Jordan Grand Resort.
The association has announced 10 scholarships totaling $8,500 will be awarded to hospitality students.
Tickets for the scholarship dinner are $55 a person and all proceeds benefit the Maine Innkeepers Education Foundation. Tickets for the golf classic are $115 for an individual or $440 for a foursome. Sponsorship opportunities for breakfast, lunch, golf carts and tees are still available. For details, call Julie Campbell at 865-6100 or [email protected].
