Being retired, living on limited income and being overtaxed, it is getting to the point where I must take a stand. I have been in sales for more than 40 years, and have traveled throughout Maine. I have met many people who share my view that Maine has too large a legislative body.

I don’t want to sound negative, and I realize our law makers have a difficult challenge in their task on different issues, but facts remain – state welfare packages are too generous.

I also worked for two different school departments and witnessed firsthand how much was being wasted by school transportation departments. I would hear “use or lose it” from administrators. Many buses would be half empty; vans would have one or two students riding, with two or three vans going to the same school because students could not get along with one another.

Lewiston has way too much money in its school budget.
