LEWISTON – Patricia Claire Grenier, 60, of 11 Martin Drive, Lewiston, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 30.
She was born in Lewiston at St. Mary’s Hospital on June 26, 1947, to the late Harvey and Rhea (Lafontaine) Lavoie. Patricia was raised in the New Auburn area and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1965. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Maine in 1969.
Patricia had a love for reading and collecting books of every genre. She worked for years at local bookstores and retired from the Lewiston Public Library in 1998 due to failing health.
She was a true animal lover and an avid supporter of the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society. She was dedicated to her two dogs, Cookie and Rusty, in addition to caring for all of the birds, squirrels and other animals that lived around her home.
Patricia volunteered for Androscoggin Home Health, assisting with errands and visiting homebound patients. She also belonged to the local ALS support group where she never failed to give encouragement to other individuals living with ALS.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 39 years, Pierre Grenier; three daughters, Judith Drake and husband, Douglas, of Dover, N.H., Cynthia Brubaker and husband, Matthew, of Jacksonville, Fla., Debra Rodrigue and husband, Mark, of Lewiston; four grandchildren, Julia and Samuel Drake, and Sidney and Riley Brubaker; and two step grandchildren, Kelsey and Kirby Rodrigue.
