AUBURN – Anita Maire Arsenault, 82, of Hancock Street, went to dance with the angels up above on May 30, at the Auburn Hospice House with her son, Ray and daughter, Barbara by her side, and the spirit of love and the rest of the family that could not be with her, but spoke to her minutes before passing.
She will be remembered by all who knew and loved her to be a kind, generous, happy and gentle person. She was very independent and strong willed.
Her greatest pride was being able to provide for her family and watching her grandchildren grow into wonderful young adults.
She became a proud grandmother at the young age of 50 to her first grandchild, Heather, and from that day on she was known as ‘Meme’ to all.
Her home cooking was enjoyed by all family and friends. Some of our favorites include her apple pie, meat pie, molasses cookies, chocolate chip cookies and her famous brownies. (Meme showed her love through her cooking.)
Her proudest love and joy for the last 10 years was her companion and best friend, Al Richards, who together dances the nights away. Meme’s passion was to dance as much and as often as possible.
She was born Anita Maire Storer on Feb. 27, 1926, in Mexico, to the parents of Ernest and Yvonne Storer, where she lived above the Mexico fire station with her parents, four sisters and one brother. Ernest, her dad, was the Mexico Fire Chief until his retirement.
On May 9, 1953, she married Joseph Mark Arsenault, who passed away in 1985.
She was employed by the Rumford Police Department as a crossing guard for many years, along with many other jobs.
She is survived by her sister, Lenora Rideout of Rumford; her companion, Al Richards of Mexico; two sons, Raymond Arsenault of Turner and wife, Karen, and Jim Arsenault of North Carolina and wife, Phyllis; two daughters, Carolyn Jennings of Pennsylvania and husband Brian, and Barbara Vaughn of Peru and husband Mark; 10 grandchildren, Bret, Michael, Heather, Matt, Lily, Sophia, Derrick, Devon, Michael Paul and Brittney; and four great-grandchildren, Michael Paul Jr., Donna, Clarissa and Alexis Rae.
In addition to her husband, Anita was predeceased by two brothers, Sonny Storer and Arthur Storer; three sisters, Teresa Storer, Dot Cote and Rita Storer; and both of her parents.
Our many thanks and appreciation to the oncology department at the Rumford Hospital and the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, for the wonderful care received during her illness.
Barbara would like to express her appreciation to all MSAD 21 for all their love, support and understanding through this difficult time, and to Al Richards, for making our mom feel loved and special right to the end. We love you Al, we are so glad you became part of our family and always will be.
Meme we love you and will miss you everyday, love your family. Meme, you may be gone, but spiritually you will be in our hearts forever.
