Farmington – Ruby A. McLaughlin, 85, of Phillips, passed away May 29, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

She was born Sept. 1, 1922, at the Hilton House in Phillips, the daughter of Charles and Ella (Webber) Avery. She attended Phillips schools. She married Kenneth McLaughlin in 1939.

She worked in a Farmington shoe shop and later became a cook in a local restaurant, which she thoroughly enjoyed. For many years she was remembered by many as a cashier for Edmunds’ Store, later retiring in 1995. She enjoyed being with her family and children, enjoyed cooking and playing cards with her friends.

She is survived by a son, Dennis, and wife, Nyoka, of Phillips, and a daughter, Clarice Hodges, and husband, Larry, of Dixfield; grandchildren, Jeffrey Hodges. Denise Goulet, Bradley Hodges and Daniel McLaughlin; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Tanner, JD., Shandi, Jake, Baylie and Hannah.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Reynold Avery.
