AUBURN – The First Auburn Seniors will meet at the Hasty Memorial Center in Pettingill Park on Wednesday, June 4. Meal tickets will be on sale for a spaghetti dinner on Wednesday, June 18, at a cost of $4. The monthly raffle will be held.

Shirley Huntley was welcomed as a new member at the last meeting. Prize winners were Barbara Libby, Bernice Musklit, Joan Webb, Leone Ford and Normand Poulin.

A memorial service was held honoring six members. Special music was provided by Ralph Lashua.

Lodge work

AUBURN – Tranquil Lodge 29, AF and AM, will work the Entered Apprentice Degree on a candidate at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St., at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4. It will be the annual inspection and all Master Masons are welcome. Refreshments will be served after the work of the evening.

Grange supper

NEW GLOUCESTER – Sabbathday Lake Grange’s first smorgasbord supper will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7. Cost is adults, $7; children under 12, $3.50. The menu will include baked beans, hot dogs, casseroles, salads and homemade pies.

The Grange will also have a bottle drive to held send youth to Grange Leadership Camp in August. The hall is located on Sabbathday Road.

NEW GLOUCESTER – Shape Note music will be sung from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 7, in the historic Shaker Meetinghouse at Sabbathday Lake.

Those attending will sing from the Sacred Harp, 1991 Denson Edition. Books will be available for loan or purchase.

Shape Note music has deep roots in colonial New England.

The four-part a capella music is sung full-voiced. While the songs are religious in text, the singing is non-denominational. Beginners are welcome.

Corporate meeting

AUBURN – The Alden Gayton Post 31, American Legion, will hold the annual corporate meeting to elect officers at 7 p.m. Monday, June 9, at the post. Lionel Koss, corporation president, will preside.

All members of Post 31 are also members of the corporation.

DAR program

LIVERMORE – The Mary Dillingham Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at the Carriage House Restaurant. A program on fire safety will be presented.

GREENE – Tommy Feral Feline Friends, a nonprofit organization, will hold its annual yard sale on Friday and Saturday, June 13 and 14, at 242 Sawyer Road, one mile from the railroad track. There will be a wide variety of items.

All proceeds will benefit homeless and abused animals. Rain dates will be June 20 and 21. For donation of items, call Norm at 650-8374.

Vacation school

BOWDOINHAM – Bowdoinham Second Baptist Church invites children ages 4 through fifth grade to its summer vacation Bible school from 6 to 8:15 p.m. June 22 to 26. Square dance

PARIS – The Swinging Bears Square Dance Club will hold a dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street, South Paris.

Ray Hilton will call a combination of mainstream and plus for the square dancing. Carol Stewart will cue for the round dancing. Cost of $5 a person includes a chance for a door prize. Refreshments will be available at intermission. Nondancers are invited to watch at no charge.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on May 27 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Flight A winners were: first, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; second, Martine Begert and Rosemarie Goodwin; third, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; fourth, Leslie Buzzell and Nancy Lindgren.

Flight B winners were: first, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner; second, Richard Balian and Woodrow Mercier. Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 3.

The club also met on May 28 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, Rosemarie Goodwin and Martine Begert; second, Anita Perrier and Helen Little; third, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau.

Winners in Flight B were: first, Anita Perrier and Helen Little; second, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau.

Another game will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Schooner Estates. A partner is guaranteed at both games.
