Sale a success

BETHEL – The annual Bethel Historical Society’s St. Never’s Day sale on Stan Howe’s lawn was a success. All proceeds from the sale support the operations of the Bethel Historical Society.

Yard sale set

PARIS – A yard sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 6, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at 659 Park St., Route 26, to benefit the Families in Crisis Task Force programs. Volunteers are needed, and items will be accepted. Rain date will be June 13 and 14. For more information, contact Peggy at 357-7072.

AARP speaker

PARIS – The Oxford Hills Chapter, AARP, will meet on Monday, June 9, at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street, Paris. A luncheon of ham and potato salad with the works will be served at noon. Cost is $6.50. Reservations are required by calling Thelma at 743-6124 by noon Friday, June 6.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Greg Cross, associate director, AARP Portland, State Office, will speak about his job with AARP and what he does for the chapters. He will also have the year-end report from the state legislature.

Variety show

LOVELL – The VFW Post 6783 Auxiliary, Fryeburg-Lovell, will hold a variety show at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Lovell VFW, corner of Route 93 and Smarts Hill. There will be light refreshments.

Entertainment by local artists will include singing, dancing and storytelling. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

Church service

PARIS – Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road, Paris, invites all to join for worship at 9 a.m. Sunday, June 8, and Bible study at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 11. Both will be followed by coffee, refreshments and fellowship.

Welcome June

NORWAY – Services at the Universalist Churches of Norway and West Paris will celebrate “Welcome June” on Sunday, June 8, with a congregational dialogue that shares stories and other memories of picnics, ants, gardening, mosquitoes and other meaningful things about summer.

The Sunday services in West Paris are at 9 a.m. and at Norway, 11 a.m. All are welcome.

Sibling classes

NORWAY – The Stephens Memorial Hospital Family BirthPlace will offer sibling preparation classes for big brothers and sisters ages 3 to 7 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14. Facilitator will be Carol Welsh, RN. For more information, call 743-1562.

Bridge play

NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met May 30 in the Fare Share Commons, Main Street.
