PARIS – The Paris Public Library is hosting a series of book discussions this summer with a theme of positive psychology. Positive psychology is the scientific study of the strengths and virtues that enable individuals and communities to thrive; it aids in finding and nurturing skills to make lives more satisfying.
The book discussions will be held in the library’s Earl Clifford Archives Room at 7 p.m. Wednesdays. The series is intended to honor Jeannette Merrill Soule, who was an early advocate of improving life through “positive thinking.”
The discussion dates and books are:
Wednesday, June 18: “A Complaint Free World” by Will Bowen.
Wednesday, July 9: “End the Struggle and Dance with Life” by Susan Jeffers, PhD.
Wednesday, July 30: “Happiness Now!” by Robert Holden, PhD.
Wednesday, Aug. 20: “Cultivating Lasting Happiness: A Seven-Step Guide to Mindfulness” by Terry Fralich, LCPC.
Books will be made available at the library. Those attending should register for the groups they wish to join. For more information, contact the Paris Public Library at 743-6994 or e-mail [email protected].
