Erin Goforth of Manchester, N.H., received her PhD in social psychology and her master’s in college teaching from the University of New Hampshire in May.
Goforth received her BA summa cum laude with honors from New England College in 2003. She has taught courses at the University of New Hampshire’s Durham and Manchester campuses in social psychology, introductory psychology and statistics.
She has published a book chapter and has an article in press at the Journal of Applied Social Psychology as well as several articles in preparation. Additionally, she has presented at many conferences, including the American Psychological Association, American Psychological Society, Society for Personality and Social Psychology and the International Society for Political Psychology conference in Sweden.
Goforth is the daughter of Kathy Goforth and Ron Ward of Bowdoin and Charles Goforth and Susan Goforth of Richmond. She is the granddaughter of Marguerite Johnson of South Paris and Ernest and Janice Fitts of Poland. She has accepted a job at Loyola University in New Orleans and will begin a tenure-track position in August.
Sarah E. Gardner of Auburn has graduated from Clarkson University, Potsdam, N.Y. She received a bachelor of science in pre-physical therapy, psychology.
Brett Chalke of Auburn recently graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans. Chalke was one of approximately 1,170 undergraduate students in Tulane’s Class of 2008.
Jillian Byard of Auburn graduated from Providence College, Providence, R.I., on May 18. Byard received a bachelor of arts in elementary/special education magna cum laude.
Julie A. Ladd, daughter of Thomas Ladd of Winthrop and Donna Ladd of Jay, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Unity College. She is a 2008 graduate of Unity College, majoring in conservation law enforcement and wildlife conservation.
Heather Loubier of Litchfield was recently named to the dean’s list at the New England Institute of Art in Boston. She is majoring in animation. Loubier is a 2006 graduate of Oak Hill High School in Wales and is the daughter of Joseph and Bonnie Loubier of Litchfield.
Kelly Beth Safford, daughter of Kenneth Safford and Elizabeth Donnell of Greene, has been named to the dean’s list with a 4.0 grade point average for the spring semester at Unity College. Safford is now in her senior year at Unity College, majoring in environmental education, teacher certification in life sciences with a minor in psychology.
Caidra M. Harris, daughter of George and Shelley Harris of Auburn, was awarded a degree of associate’s of science in dental hygiene at the University of New England’s College of Arts and Sciences and College of Health Professions commencement on May 10 at the Cumberland County Civic Center, Portland. Harris plans to continue education at UNE to receive a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene.
Velvet Vachon, daughter of Donald and Betty Vachon of Lewiston, was awarded the degree of masters of physician assistant at the University of New England’s College of Arts and Sciences and College of Health Profession commencement on May 10 at the Cumberland County Civic Center, Portland. Vachon, PA, ATC, EMT, plans to work as a physician assistant in the discipline of surgery.
Sylvie N. Demers of Auburn has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Alfred University, Alfred, N.Y. She is a sophomore in the School of Art and Design. Students must earn at least a 3.3 grade point average to qualify for dean’s list.
Demers is an art and design major. A graduate of Royal Academy, Demers is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Normand Demers of Auburn.
Janice Dumais of East Poland recently received the Psychology Department Award from Saint Joseph’s College, Standish. The award is given to the student with a high grade point average who has made a significant impression in the department.
Amanda Castonguay of Jay recently received the Campus Ministry Leadership Award from Saint Joseph’s College, Standish. The award is given to the student who most clearly demonstrates a commitment to the work and mission of the Campus Ministry program.
