FARMINGTON – June is “Adopt a Shelter Cat Month” and the Franklin County Animal Shelter is offering free adult cat adoptions through Monday, June 16.
Due to the success of last year’s event, staff was able to place 34 cats into loving homes in the span of two weeks.
Until June 16 this year, all adult cats will be considered “free to a good home.” Potential adopters will still be required to go through the mandatory adoption process, which includes filling out a pre-adoption form and at least a 24-hour waiting period in which staff can verify information on the form.
Those who rent are encouraged to bring their landlord’s name and number and/or a copy of the lease, as staff will need to check that adoption is possible. All applications will be on a “first come-first serve” basis, and any application that is filled out from June 2 to 16 will fall into the free cat category.
The shelter building is full of furry, affectionate felines of all shapes, sizes and colors, waiting patiently for that purr-fect family to come along.
The shelter is giving away free red-eared slider turtles and guinea pigs with their cages during the same period. For more information, call 778-2638.
