NORWAY – Portia E. Gagne, 55, of Waterford, died Sunday, June 1, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Lewiston on Nov. 13, 1952, the daughter of Malcolm Cushman and Ruby Brown Cushman Dewolfe. She graduated from Oxford Hills High School and had been employed as a medical secretary.
When her children were young, she worked as a teacher’s aide at Norway and Waterford schools. She had the biggest heart, always willing to help anyone. She was an awesome mom and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved people, fishing, the beach, butterflies, reading and just being outdoors. Her favorite flower was the yellow rose.
She was a member of the Deering Memorial United Methodist Church, the Paris Grange and the Future Business Leader’s of America (FBLA).
She is survived by her husband, Roland J. Gagne; son, Rodney R. Bartlett and his fiancée, Andrea Cappano; daughter, Jo-Ellen A. Strout and her husband, Peter; son, John S. Gagne and his wife, Lori; son, Roland L. Gagne and his wife, Kim; daughter, Lisa H. Rideau and her husband, Michael; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and best friends, Joan Ellingwood and Juanita Mitchell.
She was predeceased by her parents; a granddaughter, Miranda E. Gagne; and Aunt Zill.
