LEWISTON – The Lewiston CareerCenter, 5 Mollison Way, announces the June workshop schedule and speakers for the Unemployed Professionals Group.

The Lewiston/Auburn Area Unemployed Professional Group provides support, resources and networking opportunities for unemployed and underemployed professionals, while providing employers with a talent pool from which to recruit and hire. Upcoming program topics are:

June 9, “Interviewing the Interviewer” with Janice Cohen of Cohen Leadership Consulting, Hallowell.

June 16, “Open Forum; Your Time” with Cher Tyra of the Lewiston CareerCenter.

June 23, “Gender Differences” with Robert LaBrie of Maximum Potential, Gorham

June 30, “Interview and Negotiation Skills” with Steven Wallace, executive director, Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce.

Registration is not required for the Unemployed Professionals Group.

A new workshop, “Financing Your Future,” will be offered every Tuesday for six weeks beginning June 17, 24, July 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 1-3:30 p.m. This workshop, offered by Women, Work and Community, is a basic money management workshop, where participants will explore attitudes and beliefs about money. Participants will look at their financial situation, discuss wise use of credit and consider savings goals and priorities. Participants will also learn money management tools and budgeting ideas to help meet personal financial goals. Registration is required. “Job Search Skills” will be offered every other week to help people who have not conducted a job search in recent years. Many things have changed about job search. This workshop will help people learn how to conduct an effective job search. The workshop will explore how employer’s hire and methods to use that will lead to success.

Other workshops offered at the CareerCenter include “Career Decision Making,” “On-Line Applications,” “Interviewing Skills” and “Writing a Resume.”
