JAY – Clinton B. “Kit” Blaisdell, 86, of Jay, died of natural causes Tuesday, June 3.
He was born Dec. 21, 1921, in Wilton, the son of Ray and Eleanor (Welch) Blaisdell. He was a 1944 graduate of Wilton Academy. Kit was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 149th Infantry in the South Pacific and the Phillipines. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Star.
On July 3, 1948, he married Barbara Parlin. She died in 1973.
Upon his return from the war, he was employed at Parkview Service Station in Farmington and later worked at Nickerson Buick Oldsmobile car dealership. For more than 20 years he was a custodian at UMF, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of the Farmington Fire Department for 25 years and was a member of the Wilton Masonic Lodge 156 and Kora Temple Shrine in Lewiston. He was a life-member of the Frank L. Mitchell FVW Post 3335, of Jay, the American Legion Post of Farmington and was a lifetime member of the Maine State Federation of Fire Fighters.
He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and he enjoyed sitting on the “wall,” visiting with his friends and discussing current events and local happenings.
He is survived by his son, Scott Blaisdell and his companion, Debbie Richards, of Jay.
He was predeceased by his brother, Royal; and sisters, Pauline and Jacqueline.
