AUBURN – Evelyn L. Osgood, 83, formerly of Royalsborough Road, Durham, died Monday, June 2, at Clover Manor Nursing Facility, with her family at her side.

She was born in Freeport, on Nov. 9, 1924, a daughter of the late Albert E. and Margaret L. (Murray) Gould. She was educated in Freeport and graduated from Freeport High School.

She married the love of her life, Emerson Osgood on March 8, 1946, and together they shared more than 61 years together, until he predeceased her in March 2007.

She was a homemaker while her four sons were growing up. Later she worked for the Social Security Office in Portland for 11 years, and then worked for two years at L.L. Bean. She also worked in a variety of other local businesses.

She was a very devoted member of the First Congregational Church of Durham, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed her flowers, going camping and just enjoyed being in the outdoors.

She leaves four sons, Glenn L. and his wife, Louise, of Durham, Arthur E. and his wife, Sharon, of Baldwin, David A. and his wife, Leah, of Durham and Linwood L. and his wife, Nancy, of West Gardiner; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Adelaide Moore, Irma Howard, Daphne Gagnon, Clara Muller, Ulla Stowell and Velma Gagne; a brother, Robert Gould; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Moody; and a brother, Albert Gould Jr.
