LEWISTON – Gerard C. Theriault, 89, formerly of Lisbon, died Thursday, June 5, at St. Mary’s d’ Youville Pavilion with his family at his side.

He was born in Notre Dame du Lac, P.Q., on Aug. 13, 1918, a son of the late Jean Baptiste and Georgianna (Michaud) Theriault.

Gerard married the love of his life, Rita Michaud, on Sept. 10, 1945, and together they shared 54 wonderful years together, until she died in August 1999. He worked in local mills in his early years and later worked at Philips Elmet in the maintenance department until he retired in 1983.

He was a member of Holy Cross Church, La Rencontre and the Senior Citizens of Holy Cross. Gerard enjoyed bowling, puzzles, playing cards, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family, especially family reunions.

He leaves five daughters, Therese Theriault of Sherbrook, Ginette Martin and her husband, Albert, of Sabattus, Denise Theriault of Lewiston, Marcelle Theriault of Lisbon, Raymonde Rioux and her husband, Marc, of New Gloucester; two sons, Jean Theriault and his wife, Lorraine, of Brunswick, and Gaetan Theriault and his wife, Nancy, of Sabattus; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by four sisters; three brothers; and a great-granddaughter, Maya River Cloutier.

The family would like to send a very special thank you to the entire staff at d’Youville on 3 West, 4 West and Hospice Care, for the exceptional care they gave to Gerard.
