Wilma Irish, left, and Bonnie Santos take time out for refreshments after the Minot Historical Society meeting.

Next society meeting will feature pottery

MINOT – Wilma Irish, who has worked as an interpreter at the Norlands Living History Center in Livermore for 32 years, was guest speaker at the May meeting of the Minot Historical Society.

Irish showed many items used in and around homes of the 1800s and members tried to determine how each was used.

The society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at the Minot Town Office. Guest speakers will be Donald Newcomb and Dale Farrar of Livermore Falls.

Newcomb, who is a collector of pottery, will showcase items from his Dedham Pottery Collection. Farrar, an antique dealer and collector, will show examples of Roseville and Fulper Pottery from his personal collections.

Both will give brief histories of each item and will bring the items into the audience for a hands-on experience. Those attending are invited to bring examples of the above pottery to show.

Meetings are open to all and refreshments will be served following the meeting. For more information contact society president Hester Gilpatric at 345-3040.
