Hardly a day goes by without some talk of terrorism in the news – Iraq, Iran, Afghanisian, the war on terror. al Qaida, Osama bin Ladin, Abu Nidal, Hamas and the IRA, all have had their moments in the spotlight.
Then there are the domestic terrorists – Terry Nichols, Timothy McVeigh, Ted Kaczynski, the Aryan Nation, Black Panthers and the Symbionese Liberation Army.
Webster’s Dictionary discribes terror as a state of fear, and terrorism as the use of terror to fill with fear. With that in mind, there is a new terrorist group in the news every day. They have no name yet. They are just the greed brokers and speculators of the New York Mercantile Exchange – the ones who drive the price of oil higher and higher every day.
With the fear they are putting in the American public and the downturn in the economy, they are causing what can be discribed as a form of domestic terrorism.
The elderly will not only have to choose between food and medicine, but now heat, too.
