Lewiston – Filomena “Mamie” Beaulieu, 86, of 49 Newall Ave., Auburn, died peacefully Monday, June 9, at St, Mary’s Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born in Lewiston on July 16, 1921, the daughter of the late Salvatore Talarico and Carmela Gallelli Talarico. She was educated in Lewiston schools and lived her entire life in the Lewiston-Auburn area.

She was a member of the Auburn Catholic community at St. Philip’s Parish since the church was built. She married Rene E. Beaulieu on Aug. 27, 1945, at St. Joseph’s Church. They were married for 37 years until Rene died unexpectedly on Aug. 19, 1983.

Filomena spent her entire career in the restaurant business, working at many popular Italian eateries, including Steckino’s Restaurant, Talarico’s and Luiggi’s Pizzeria. She spent over 30 years working at the family-owned Luiggi’s, alongside her siblings, daughter and grandchildren.

Mamie devoted her life to caring for others. She helped to raise her brother-in-law, Roland, and also played an instrumental role in her grandchildren’s lives, who all lovingly referred to her as “Nan.”

Armed with a quick wit, Nan was a fierce competitor at many card and board games, loved to play the lottery, and found great joy in arts and crafts. She was an avid traveler and greatly enjoyed camping in the Maine wilderness with her family. Even in her later years, she remained determined to annually clear her yard of leaves and acorns, plant flowers, and keep her walkway clear of snow. She always brought a smile to those around her and was quick to bring cheer to any situation.

She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia R. Bosse of Auburn; a son, Steven R. Beaulieu of Augusta; her grandchildren, Michael Bosse and wife, Luana Donatelli, of Scarborough, Nikki Gora and husband, Jason, of Poland, Kimberly Livingstone and husband, Patrick, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Kris Bosse and Kirstin Leitner of Philadelphia, Pa., Austin and Matthew Beaulieu; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Gabriella, Isabella and Joseph; two brothers, Frank Talarico and his wife, Marcella,of Lewiston, and Nick Talarico, also of Lewiston; sisters and brothers-in-law, Roland and Rita Beaulieu of Lewiston and Avon Libby of Brunswick.

She was predeceased by her brother, Louis Talarico, and her sisters and brother-in-law, Mary and Rosario Dennis and Dorothy Libby.

The family would like to thank the staff of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice and St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center Critical Care Unit for their excellent care of our family.
