DIXFIELD – Gerald Kenneth Knox, 61, of 7 Howard St., Dixfield, beloved husband of 37 years to Sandra Burgess Knox, passed peacefully at his home Saturday evening, June 7.
He was born in Dixfield, Dec. 24, 1946, a son of Kenneth and Norma (Jackson) Knox and received his education in local schools.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam veteran who earned the National Defense Service Medal, two Bronze Stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He loved aviation, was an accomplished pilot and was proud to have constructed and flown his own experimental aircraft along with several other hobbies such as rebuilding classic cars and enjoying a hockey game.
He was very devoted to his family and friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Besides his loving wife, Sandra, he was a devoted father to four children and is survived by Travis Knox and his wife, Gina, of Mexico, Michael Knox of Dixfield, Matthew Knox of Rumford, and Sara Knox and her fiancé, Charlie Cogley, of Rumford; his mother, Norma, of Dixfield; grandchildren, Renee, Tyzell, Dylan, and Alex; step-grandchildren, Natasha, Aaron and Adam; brother, Joseph Knox and his companion, Sandra; sisters, Kathy Andrews and her husband, Rick, and Rose Knox; several nieces and nephews and several caring friends at his place of employment, Irving Forest Products in Dixfield.
