LEWISTON – In a battle for first place in the Elliot Ave. Little League Major Baseball division, Evan Bourassa and Coleman Morency combined for 17 strikeouts to lead Rowe past Dube Flower, 1-0. Bourassa was the winning pitcher in Rowe’s seventh consecutive victory. Morency entered the game with two out in the fifth before slamming the door.
Ethan Melvin set up the winning run with a fourth-inning triple. Zach McBride knocked him home with a single.
Brian Wigant pitched brilliantly for Dube, allowing only the two hits in the fourth while striking out 13. Alex Nazaroff sparked the Dube attack with a double.
Melanson Paving also picked up a pair of recent Elliot victories.
Devin Harrison capped off a three-run sixth inning with a double to help Melanson defeat Healey Associates, 10-8. Conner Perron and Colton Bernier had two hits apiece to lead the offense. Perron came on to pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning with two on and none out to preserve the win.
For Healey, Ben Howell, Eddie Emerson and Tom Hurd had two hits each. One of Hurd’s was a home run.
Bernier walloped a grand slam in the first inning to power Melanson to a 13-8 victory over Mike Morin’s. Perron and Nick Belanger had two hits each, and Alex Small nailed a triple.
Austin Wing pitched four solid innings for the win.
Andrew Butler banged out three hits for Mike Morin’s. Caleb Dostie and Brian Bonenfant each had two hits.
Manchester tops Leeds in Apple Valley BR
Ricky Gibson and Dakota Duplissie each slapped four singles to power Manchester’s hit parade in a 14-5 Apple Valley Babe Ruth baseball victory over Leeds. Jon Varney cranked a home run and added a single for Manchester. Matt Surette singled twice. Davis delivered two singles to lead Leeds.
