PORTLAND (AP) – A man charged in connection with a shooting incident at a Portland sushi restaurant has been ordered held in lieu of bail on four felony charges, including elevated aggravated assault and reckless conduct with firearm.

Twenty-nine-year-old Hoang Nguyen appeared Monday in District Court, where a prosecutor said he was drunk Friday night when he got into a confrontation with a waiter at Ginza Town and was kicked out.

Assistant District Attorney Angela Cannon said Nguyen later returned, confronted the waiter a second time and pulled out a gun. Cannon said a struggle ensued and the gun discharged three to five times. The waiter suffered a burn on his hand from the slide or muzzle of the gun.

After patrons hit Nguyen with chairs, he left the restaurant but turned himself in to police Saturday.
