HARRISON – Two new selectmen were elected Tuesday, with only 39 votes separating the highest vote-getter from the lowest in a four-way contest.

Willard Goodwin and Edwin Rolfe Jr. were elected to three-year terms with 197 votes and 175 votes, respectively. Kevin LaPlante had 163 votes, while Christopher Sanborn had 158 votes.

Goodwin and Rolfe will replace Vice Chairman Thomas Scribner and Selectman James Bennett. Neither sought re-election.

Voters also elected Jonathan Washburn to a three-year term on the Planning Board with 249 votes, and Gerry Smith was elected to a five-year term on the Appeals Board with 10 write-in votes.
