LEWISTON – A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Maurice Champoux was held Monday morning at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul following prayers at the Pinette and Lynch Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Lariviere celebrating the Mass and reciting committal prayers at St. Peter’s Cemetery.

During Mass, readings were read by Pauline Gilbert and Brian Toussaint. Words of remembrance were shared by Maurice’s daughter, Diane Iannotti. Letters written by Maurice’s wife, Pauline, and their daughter, Louise, were read by Anita Lalonde.

A funeral procession was formed to St. Peter’s Cemetery passing the Champoux residence on Pine Street as well as the Champoux Insurance on Sabattus Street. Prior to committal prayers, family friend, Nick Knowlton, sang “Wind Beneath My Wings.” Following committal prayers, the U.S. Army Honor Detail played taps and presented our country’s flag to Maurice’s wife, Pauline, in recognition of her husband’s service to his country during World War II.

Pallbearers were Ed, Don, David and Brian Toussaint, as well as Dan Iannotti and Ron Champoux. All were invited to a reception of fellowship at Marco’s Restaurant following the conclusion of services.
